Due date:

You have a choice of how to present it:
- you can write it on your blog, Powerpoint, Prezzi, Imovie, etc.
- it must have pictures and/or video of the place
- you will read us your presentation while showing us the pictures/video from your presentation- the text must be four hundred to five hundred words. 
- the font must be 'Times New Roman', size 12.  It must be double-spaced.

Unit 7 Assignment: Exploration and Discovery

You must answer the following question, from page 135 of the text.

Where would you most like to explore?  Why would you like to go there?

You must choose one place, and have several reasons for going there.  You must show me the plan in point form, like the template/plan on page 138 of the text, before you begin writing.  The final version must be four hundred to five hundred words. The font must be 'Times New Roman', size 12.  It must be double-spaced.

Due dates:
- template/plan by the end of class Tuesday or Wednesday
- rough copy finished during class on Friday, 12/20, and printed, so that I can help you edit it before the holiday
- good copy will not be due until Friday, 01/10, so that you do not need to work on it over the holiday

We will decide how to present it in January, and work on completing the good copy then.

Friday 11/29 class, and homework due 12/02 and 12/03

Ms. M. will supervise your class on Friday, so I am assigning these things to be finished Friday, and over the weekend.

Monday, 12/02 
We are starting unit seven in the text: 'Exploration and Discovery'.  By Monday you must have completed the following:
- read pp. 121-123
- complete the questions on p. 124
- read pp. 125-126
- complete the questions on p. 127

1. A blog posting of your own choice  due in class Tuesday, 12/03.  Same length and expectations as always.

Friday, 11/22
1. The rough copy of your '2050 daily life' is due in class Friday, 11/22.

Monday, 11/25
1. The good copy of your '2050 daily life' is due in class Monday, 11/25.  It must be five hundred words.  The font must be 'Times New Roman', size 12.  It must be double-spaced.

Tuesday, 11/26
1. The blog of your 'favourite present technology' is due in class Tuesday, 11/26. 

Homework, 10/21

You will copy each of these items into your CIS 2013/2014 planner, and show me tomorrow!

1. The good copy of your food opinion piece is due at the very start of your class Thursday, 10/24.  It must be five hundred words.  The font must be 'Times New Roman', size 12.  It must be double-spaced.

2. Bring your rough copy of the food opinion piece to the next class, Tuesday or Wednesday:  'Times New Roman', size 12, double-spaced.

3. Your blog for next week, due by Monday, 10/28, is your choice.

4.  Take your planner to every class in the school, every class, every day.  Take your ESL text to every ESL class.

Homework!

There are three different things from last week and from this week.

1. Your blog that should already be finished: due today, 10/14, on any topic you want.  If it is late, fix it before Thursday morning and you will lose only 5%.

2. Your blog for next week: due by Monday, 10/21, about your favourite teacher (not Mr. S.).

3. The rough copy (the first version of your writing) of your unit project about an opinion on food: due by Monday, 10/21.  This does not have to be perfect, and does not yet have to be five hundred words.  It should be more than three hundred words in the rough copy.  It must be typed and printed double-spaced before classes on Monday.  Remember, you may use the computers at ESL to print before 8:45.

4. The good copy of your food opinion piece is due at the very start of your class next Thursday, 10/24.

Weekly Blog: Due before school every Monday

1. Your blog has to be written in English. G7: 200 words each week in one, or several, postings. G8&9: 300 words each week in one, or several, postings.

2. Your blog may be on any suitable topic. Just be aware that I will read it, your parents may read it, and it will be visible to the world!

3. Do not share any personal information with the blogging site, or your readers. There are strange people on the Internet: stay safe.  Use initials for your name, not your whole name.

4. Moderate Comments. Set the comments section of your blog so that all comments must be checked by you before they are posted.

5. Always edit your writing. Both because Mr. S. will mark it, and to look as smart as you really are.

6. Use Blogger. Mr. S. can help you most easily with this site.

7. Back-up your blog at home periodically, in case you lose it. You can do this from the Blogger settings page, and onto your computer or external hard-drive, or to a USB stick.

8. Due Monday before 8:30. That means not at school on Monday morning...

9. Read each other's blogs and comment, nicely.

10. Add links on your page to things from this 'ESL CIS blog': class blog link, student blog links, etc.
